Take advantage of the great weather at this two-day JBSA-Lackland Gateway Hills Championship. It is the third event of the 2019 Gateway Cup Series with an individual stroke play format. First Steps is a non-competitive, instructional and development program for all DOD children ages 3-5. Register at JBSA-Lackland Youth Programs, building 8420 on Selfridge Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Parents must attend the orientation on April 25, 6 p.m. at the Youth Programs' gym. The season runs April 29 to June 6. First Steps teaches fundamentals of baseball in harmony with the gross motor movements of preschool and early school-age children. Parents are required to participate as an extension of the instructor.

Come on out for some good 'ole fashion western fun at the 14th annual Cowboys for Heroes event at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. This event features free authentic cowboy cooking with 1800s-style chuck wagons, trick riding show, petting zoo, family hay rides, horse rides, mechanical bulls, a demonstration of replica western-style guns, youth crafts, music and much more! This event takes place on March 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the JBSA-Fort Sam Houston MacArthur Parade Field (area adjacent to Worth and Stanley Roads). This two-person event will have 7-9 a.m. start times. Both days are preflighted based on GHIN handicaps. Lunch is served after the first round Sunday, and a drawing is conducted Saturday during play where golfers have a chance to win golf merchandise. Participants who place in this tournament receive a gift card that can be used in the pro shop for golf merchandise; if the pro shop does not have a desired item, it can be ordered.

Bingo takes place in the Ballroom every Monday through Thursday at 7 p.m., every Sunday at 3 p.m. Admission is free for members and $10 for nonmembers. Members have a chance to win the full jackpot and nonmembers a half jackpot.
