Stillman Park Camping Adventure

Get ready for an unforgettable night under the stars, camping at our very own Stillman Park on JBSA Lackland. Featuring an exciting outdoor movie experience! This fun-filled adventure is designed for kids and families new to camping and offers the perfect introduction to the great outdoors in a safe, welcoming environment. Kids will learn basic camping skills such as setting up a tent and getting familiar with sleeping outside. Families will get to make a simple dinner, breakfast, and campfire snacks teaching kids how to enjoy food cooked outdoors in a fun and engaging way. As night falls, we’ll settle in for a family-friendly outdoor movie under the stars! Kids can enjoy the magic of cinema surrounded by nature, all while cozying up in blankets and enjoying a picnic-style atmosphere. Activities will be led by trained staff, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the event. We’ll provide everything needed for a cozy, fun night out in nature, including tents, sleeping mats, and bags. The cost of the event is $30 per person. Backpacking to Pedernales Falls

Departing Lackland ODR on May 17 at 8 a.m. and returning on May 18 at 2 p.m. Say goodbye to store-bought backpacking meals and learn to make your own! Join the class on May 13 and learn how to make your own backpacking food. Then on the trip, we will explore Pedernales Falls Park and hike into the campsite. The total cost for the workshop and the trip is $65. Round trip transportation from Lackland ODR, instruction, all food, and equipment are provided. Open Play Paintball

Play paintball individually or in small groups. Sign-up ahead of time to reserve and solidify your spot or walk-in the day of. Players sign-up for 1 of 2 timeslots. The morning time slot: 9:45 a.m. to noon. The afternoon time slot is 12:15-2:30 p.m. Fee includes access to paintball field for 1.5 hours, 500 rounds of paint, marker with muzzle covering, unlimited air refills, protective face covering, and lunch deal. Lunch includes 1 hot dog, 1 drink, and a bag of chips. Ages 14 and older are welcome to play. Complimentary transportation can be provided to players that live in Lackland dorms. Kayak the San Antonio River

June 6 • 7-10:30 p.m. Welcome the summer and beat the heat with a nighttime paddle on the San Antonio River! Join us as we team up with the San Antonio River Authority for this unique opportunity. Ages 8 and older are welcome but ages 8-11 must ride in tandem with an adult. Ages 12 and older can paddle their own craft. Tandem kayaks are limited. The cost of this program is $20, which includes roundtrip transportation from Fort Sam Houston, personal floatation devices and kayak equipment. Deadline to sign up is May 30 or when filled.
