Burn Ban Status

There is currently NO burn ban in effect.



Ramp Closures

As of Nov. 1, all the boat ramps at the JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake will be closed due to low water levels and safety concerns.

Update: VHIC Card

To be able to access the Canyon Lake park with the Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC), it has to state under the picture: Service connected, Medal of honor, Purple Heart or Former POW. Then you will have to go to one of the JBSA installation visitor centers to be vetted. They do a background check and then they place a small JBSA decal on the back of the card. That decal is the only way to gain access to the park. VHIC members can have four others besides themselves in the same vehicle.

Current Restrictions

Each vehicle coming into the park must have an Adult DOD ID card holder. If staying overnight, you will have to submit your guest list either through the call center email or by phone the day prior before 1:00 PM. The list cannot exceed the number of people the lodging unit sleeps, is fire/safety code. Check-in is between 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, no check-ins after 8:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM; if you wish to stay longer, you must purchase a day pass before 11:00 AM.
