July Events at JBSA-Lackland Youth Programs E-Sports, Come in and Play Basketball July 10 • 3:30-6:30 PM Bring in your personal gear or use ours to participate in basketball with a two-round format. Round one is gaming basketball. Round two is a pick-up game of three-on-three half-court basketball. This event is for ages 9-18 and is free. Parents are welcome and we may also bring out some of Lackland's first responders to take on the teens. Missoula Performing Arts Camp July 22-26 • Free event Missoula Performing Arts Camp is back again for another season. Ages 5-18 are invited to experience the magic of live performance and release their inner artistic stage presence. Auditions will be held on Monday, practice schedules will be assigned for characters and the play will be held on Friday. Get ready for The Pied Piper! The show is open to all DOD ID cardholders. Lackland Basketball Camp July 29-Aug. 2 • 5:30-6:30 PM We were awarded an awesome opportunity to get youth, ages 5-18, out and on the court. Collegiate coaches are traveling and setting up a camp at Lackland. Learn new skills, and develop the competitive edge to compete at a higher vantage point. […]

JBSA-Lackland Outdoor Recreation is having Workshop Wednesday to teach guests the following skills: How to Maintain Your Bike 101 July 10 | 5:30-6:30 PM Before you hit the trails, come by, and learn what it takes to keep your bike in tip-top shape. This course will go over basic maintenance for both road bikes and mountain bikes. Learn how to take care of your bike and help extend its longevity. Whether you're a pro rider or still have your training wheels, there's something for everyone here. How to Tow and Haul a Trailer Aug. 14 | 5:30-6:30 PM Towing anything can be extremely nerve-racking without proper guidance or experience. Let your fears melt away as we go over the proper way to hitch and tow any equipment with ease. Participants must have a valid Driver's License to participate. Plus, you'll get to jump into some exciting hands-on activities and challenge your friends in games. It's all about having fun, finding your passion, and seeing what Youth Programs can offer you. Light refreshments will be provided. So, bring your friends, and let's make it a day to remember! Neighborhood Block Party Jan. 25 • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You are invited to a free fun-filled party! Come out to see your neighbors and meet new friends. There will be games, activities, light refreshments and door prizes.

Youth Home Alone and Babysitting Classes

Home Alone Class Feb. 5 • 5:30-6:30 p.m. This class gives youth, ages 10-18 the basic tools and knowledge to confidently stay at home alone! This is a free class. For more information, call (210) 671-2388. Youth Babysitting Course Feb. 22 • 8:30 a.m. to noon Youth Programs is offering the Red Cross Babysitters Course for youth ages 11 and older. Learn about care for infants and children, basic first aid, child behavior, emergency protocols, professionalism, leadership concepts, and age-appropriate activities.  The cost is $40 for active members. Sign up in CYPBMS by Feb. 19. Only 10 spots will be offered.
