Build-a-Backpack

Joint Base San Antonio

The School Liaison Program kicks off its 11th annual Build-A-Backpack program to provide backpacks full of school supplies for local military and community kids in need. The goal is to give the children of military and local community families the opportunity to start school with all the supplies they need to be successful. A completed backpack can be donated on July 18-29. For more information on this program and a list of supplies, please contact your local CYES Liaison. Father-Son/Daughter Nine-Hole Tournament

Show Dad some love and sign up for this year’s Father Son/Daughter nine-hole scramble. This event is open to siblings of all ages as long as they play with their father. Entry fee is #30 per team plus greens fee and cart fee. Entry fee includes prizes and food for two players. Format is a two-player scramble and there will be different tee boxes for different ages at the event. Don’t play golf? No sweat, we have fling golf so players can throw the ball. If you have more than one interested child go ahead and bring them out. However, siblings will have to rotate playing holes. There is a max of two players per hole, per team. The deadline to register is June 16. Al registration and scoring will be done on the JBSA Golf App. For more information, call (210) 222-9386.

Youth Sports Clinics from Around the World

FSH Youth Programs

Youth Sports is hosting clinics for youth ages 5-12 to build on the fundamentals of baseball, soccer, flag football, cheerleading, archery and basketball. Cost is $25 per youth, per week. All clinics are held Monday through Thursday beginning with a Soccer clinic held June 7-10; Baseball clinic held June 21-24; Flag Football and Cheer held July 5-8; Basketball clinic held July 19-22; and Archery clinic held August 2-5. Name the Bar Contest

The Skylark Bowling Center is re-branding the bar and seeking a new identity. All contestants will submit one suggestion for a name for the bar. Entry must include the contestants name and contact number. Get your suggestion in from May 16 - June 1! The grand prize is a family four pack which includes 2 hours of bowling for 4 guests, shoe rentals, 1 large 2-topping pizza and 4 fountain drinks. The grand re-branding party takes place June 24 from 3-6 PM. The party will include ribbon cutting/name reveal, appetizers, drink specials and contests (3 frame beat the manager, pool table skill shot and trivia contest). Come out and enjoy the U.S. Army North Concert Series presented by the 78th Army Band featuring Liberty Vibes, a latin band. Join us in Watkins Terrace at the Fort Sam Houston Splash Pad! This event us open to DoD ID cardholders and their guests. The Fort Sam Houston Splash Pad is located on Watkins Blvd. next to the Ed Parker Youth Center. No seating will be provided, please bring blankets or chairs to enjoy the show! Have fun with all the family at the JBSA- Fort Sam Houston Golf Course SUMMER NIGHTS Party at the Greens! Join us every first Friday of the month from May to August: May 6, June 3, June 30 and Aug. 5 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. There will be music, food truck, beverage cantina (serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages) and outdoor games like corn hole, giant jenga and a driving range. The JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Bowling Center has the best opportunities to enjoy the air-conditioning this summer with specials for everyone. July Beat the Heat Bowl in a cool air-conditioned center and try to win monthly giveaways. The more you bowl the more chances to win! July 1st - AETC Family Day Bowling Special Families of four enjoy two hours of bowling, shoe rentals, a large two-topping pizza and four fountain beverages for $60. $6 Bowling Special Bowl three games for $6 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from open to close. Fall Soccer registration is open for youth ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-14. The registration fee is $60. A current immunization record including a flu vaccine and a current sports physical are required at time of registration.
