Great Texas Freedom Fest

Fort Sam Houston

The Great Texas Freedom Fest scheduled for April 2025 Community members will have the opportunity to explore Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at the Great Texas Freedom Fest on April 12 from 3-9:30 p.m.  The installation will open its gates to the public for this event, free to all who attend. The theme is “United in Service,” and the open house will feature live music, food trucks, museum tours, military demonstrations, and family activities. The activities will include: Science, technology, engineering, and math activities Interactive military displays and demonstrations Youth crafts, games, and inflatables Fitness challenges Petting zoo Resource and recruiting organizations Flyovers Axe throwing trailer Music performances featuring the Air Force's “Band of the West,” the 323rd Army Band “Fort Sam's Own” and the “Spazmatics” A fireworks finale will be brought to you by HEB Food trucks: Hamburgers and hotdogs Mexican street food BBQ Pizza Jamaican Cheesesteaks Thai food Ice cream, shaved ice, cheesecake, kettle corn AND MORE!!! Each patron will receive the tools to create a planter with soil ad a plant and take-home instructions. Kayak & Paddle Board Class

April 26 Please join us at the JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake at the Hancock Cove Beach for a two-hour class on kayaks and paddle board safety and operation. This class is required in order to rent kayaks and paddle boards. After completion, each guest will receive a certification card. This card must be presented each time you rent the equipment. The cost for the class is $20 per person. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a sponsor during the class and during equipment rental.
