**Month of the Military Child Celebration Moves Indoors to Ed W. Parker Youth Center** Due to anticipated inclement weather, the Month of the Military Child celebration scheduled for Saturday, April 5, will now be held indoors at the Ed W. Parker Youth Center.  The event will still take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. We are excited to continue celebrating our military children and their resilience at this new location. The Ed W. Parker Youth Center offers the best alternative to ensure a fun and engaging experience for everyone.  We will continue with several planned activities, including arts and crafts, music, carnival games, and activities from our great community partners. We encourage all families to join us for this special event honoring our military children. Boat Driving Course

Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake

Learn how to drive a boat safely at the JBSA Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake Hancock Cove Marina. This two-hour boat driving course covers boat operation, rules of the water and safety guidelines. This course is open to all DOD ID cardholders. The cost for the class is $60 per person and there are limited spots. To reserve your spot, call (830) 964-3576 or email [email protected]. Participants must be 21 years or older and have completed one of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Boater Safety courses.

Great Texas Freedom Fest

The Great Texas Freedom Fest scheduled for April 2025 Community members will have the opportunity to explore Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at the Great Texas Freedom Fest on April 12 from 3-9:30 p.m.  The installation will open its gates to the public for this event, free to all who attend. The theme is “United in Service,” and the open house will feature live music, food trucks, museum tours, military demonstrations, and family activities. EARTH DAY GARDENING April 22 ● 5:30-6:30 p.m. Join us for a fun and creative way to celebrate sustainability by crafting your own recycled planters on Earth Day! By combining sustainability with creativity, you will learn how to reduce waste and cultivate your own green spaces in a fun and educational way. The cost of the event is $15. Each patron will receive the tools to create a planter with soil ad a plant and take-home instructions.
