MISERY follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does. Ladies and gentlemen may try one or all triathlon events in the month of May. All events are free and open to all DOD ID cardholders. On May 8 and 9, start small with Triathlon #1 consisting of a 200-meter swim, 3-mile bike ride and 1-mile run. Take the next step May 15 and 16 with Triathlon #2 consisting of a 400-meter swim, 5-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run. Move up to Triathlon #3 on May 22 and 23 consisting of 500-meter swim, 10-mile bike ride and a 2.5-mile run. Take the giant leap with Triathlon #4 on May 29 and 30 consisting of 750 meter swim, 10-mile bike ride and a 5-mile run. The bike and run portions may be completed indoors or outdoors. Soccer Camp June 6-9 | 9-11 AM The Randolph Soccer camp gives all school age children, ages 5-10 a safe way to take first steps toward skills/drills while learning the fundamentals of soccer. Our camp focuses on footwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. The cost is $40 per youth. Volleyball Camp June 6-9 | 9-11 AM This volleyball camp is designed for youth age 9 and older. Restorative Yoga poses relieve the effects of chronic stress. It moves the spine all directions, forward bends, back bends and twists to stimulate and soothe the organs. Spine poses held for 3-10 minutes which allows gravity to open you more than if seated or standing. In class meditation, sound therapy, warm-up, restorative poses and mudras included. $3 per class, passes are available for purchase. The Gateway Hills Golf Course offers a Junior Golf Camp for youth from June 13-16. The first three days are devoted to lessons on chipping, putting and hitting. Thursday is on-course instruction. The School Liaison Program kicks off its 11th annual Build-A-Backpack program to provide backpacks full of school supplies for local military and community kids in need. The goal is to give the children of military and local community families the opportunity to start school with all the supplies they need to be successful. Show Dad some love and sign up for this year’s Father Son/Daughter nine-hole scramble. This event is open to siblings of all ages as long as they play with their father. Entry fee is #30 per team plus greens fee and cart fee. Entry fee includes prizes and food for two players. Format is a two-player scramble and there will be different tee boxes for different ages at the event. Don’t play golf? No sweat, we have fling golf so players can throw the ball. If you have more than one interested child go ahead and bring them out. However, siblings will have to rotate playing holes. There is a max of two players per hole, per team.
