Central Post Fitness Center JBSA-Fort Sam Houston January 1-31 Five-Mile Cardio Challenge Mon.-Fri. • 5-6 p.m. • Free Patrons can use treadmills, spin bikes, ellipticals, or rowing machines to test their cardio endurance and to complete this challenge. Each patron is to make sure a staff member records their time and distance. Prizes will be given to the person with the longest distance on each piece of equipment at the end of the month. Bench Press Competition Mon., Wed., and Fri. • 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Free Patrons are invited to come out to see who can bench the most weight. There will be categories for men and women but no weight class. Each patron is to make sure a staff member verifies the weight benched. The man and woman who lift the most weight will be awarded a prize at the end of the month. Events are open to all DOD ID Cardholders. EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ALL DOD ID CARDHOLDERS. NO FEES REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE

Padre Island Camping and Fishing Trip

CAMPING AND FISHING AT PADRE ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE Jan. 25-26 ● 6 a.m. Come with us on an overnight shore fishing trip to the beautiful Texas Coast. We will be traveling down to the Padre Island National Seashore to enjoy some shore fishing and camping overnight. Spend the afternoon and evening fishing or just hanging out. You can watch the sunset over the waves and sleep under the stars. Outdoor Recreation will provide all the fishing equipment you need to test your luck. The cost of this program is $125. All ages are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult or guardian). The program includes roundtrip transportation to and from Padre Island, entrance for the National Seashore, camping permits, camping and fishing gear, dinner and breakfast. *A Texas Park and Wildlife Fishing License is required to fish. Contact Outdoor Recreation for information about obtaining your personal license. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 17 or when full. Camp Bullis Outdoor Recreation

License to Carry License to Carry a Handgun Class (LTC) Jan. 11 & 25 and Feb. 8 & 22 • 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. License to Carry a Handgun classes are held at Camp Bullis Outdoor Recreation. Eligible students must: Be at least 18 years old to register for the class and to apply for the license. Be familiar with their firearm - no first-time shooters. Meet federal qualifications to purchase a handgun. The cost of the class is $80. Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake

STAR GAZING Jan. 25 2 | 7:30-8:30 p.m. See the solar system and beyond like never before through powerful telescopes. This time of year we should have excellent views of many of the planets in our solar system as well as constellations and deep space objects.
