Joint Base San AntonioGet entered in the 2025 Air Force Art & Photo Contest! Entries accepted 1 March 2025 – 30 April 2025. The first-place winner in each sub-category will receive a $500 Amazon Gift Card, the second place will receive $400, and the third place will receive $300! Categories: Adult: Novice Adult: Accomplished Teens: 13 – 17 years Pre-teens: 9 – 12 years Children: 6 – 8 years 2D Art is considered to be two-dimensional as a drawing, sketch, or painting. Accepted media include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, gouache, egg tempera, pen and ink, charcoal, colored pencil, scratchboard, markers and metal point. (Digital art is not an accepted medium). 3D Art is considered to be three-dimensional such as, sculpture, ceramic, pottery, clay, glass art, metals, jewelry, wood, fiber, and textile. Photography is considered to be the practice of capturing images by exposing light-sensitive film or a digital sensor directly to the scene being photographed. It involves composing a single image in-camera, without significant post-processing or manipulation. Traditional photography aims to depict a scene or subject as faithfully as possible, relying on natural lighting and minimal alterations. Fort Sam HoustonThe Great Texas Freedom Fest scheduled for April 2025 Community members will have the opportunity to explore Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at the Great Texas Freedom Fest on April 12 from 3-9:30 p.m. The installation will open its gates to the public for this event, free to all who attend. The theme is “United in Service,” and the open house will feature live music, food trucks, museum tours, military demonstrations, and family activities.
