The Great Texas Freedom Fest scheduled for April 2025 Community members will have the opportunity to explore Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at the Great Texas Freedom Fest on April 12 from 3-9:30 p.m. The installation will open its gates to the public for this event, free to all who attend. The theme is “United in Service,” and the open house will feature live music, food trucks, museum tours, military demonstrations, and family activities. Operation Megaphone is an annual, global lock-in that brings together military teens across all branches! This year, Joint Base San Antonio installations will team up to plan this event hosted at Fort Sam Houston Youth Programs! ALL teens ages 13-18 are invited to participate in this lock-in. Get ready for an unforgettable night under the stars, camping at our very own Stillman Park on JBSA Lackland. Featuring an exciting outdoor movie experience! This fun-filled adventure is designed for kids and families new to camping and offers the perfect introduction to the great outdoors in a safe, welcoming environment. Kids will learn basic camping skills such as setting up a tent and getting familiar with sleeping outside. Families will get to make a simple dinner, breakfast, and campfire snacks teaching kids how to enjoy food cooked outdoors in a fun and engaging way. As night falls, we’ll settle in for a family-friendly outdoor movie under the stars! Kids can enjoy the magic of cinema surrounded by nature, all while cozying up in blankets and enjoying a picnic-style atmosphere. Activities will be led by trained staff, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the event.
