**Month of the Military Child Celebration Moves Indoors to Ed W. Parker Youth Center** Due to anticipated inclement weather, the Month of the Military Child celebration scheduled for Saturday, April 5, will now be held indoors at the Ed W. Parker Youth Center.  The event will still take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. We are excited to continue celebrating our military children and their resilience at this new location. The Ed W. Parker Youth Center offers the best alternative to ensure a fun and engaging experience for everyone.  We will continue with several planned activities, including arts and crafts, music, carnival games, and activities from our great community partners. We encourage all families to join us for this special event honoring our military children. Great Texas Freedom Fest

The Great Texas Freedom Fest scheduled for April 2025 Community members will have the opportunity to explore Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at the Great Texas Freedom Fest on April 12 from 3-9:30 p.m.  The installation will open its gates to the public for this event, free to all who attend. The theme is “United in Service,” and the open house will feature live music, food trucks, museum tours, military demonstrations, and family activities. The activities will include: Science, technology, engineering, and math activities Interactive military displays and demonstrations Youth crafts, games, and inflatables Fitness challenges Petting zoo Resource and recruiting organizations Flyovers Axe throwing trailer Music performances featuring the Air Force's “Band of the West,” the 323rd Army Band “Fort Sam's Own” and the “Spazmatics” A fireworks finale will be brought to you by HEB Food trucks: Hamburgers and hotdogs Mexican street food BBQ Pizza Jamaican Cheesesteaks Thai food Ice cream, shaved ice, cheesecake, kettle corn AND MORE!!! Operation Megaphone

Operation Megaphone is an annual, global lock-in that brings together military teens across all branches! This year, Joint Base San Antonio installations will team up to plan this event hosted at Fort Sam Houston Youth Programs! ALL teens ages 13-18 are invited to participate in this lock-in. Join the fun, make lasting connections, and be part of a worldwide movement empowering military teens to support each other and their communities. Please register in CYPBMS by 23 April. Stillman Park Camping Adventure

Get ready for an unforgettable night under the stars, camping at our very own Stillman Park on JBSA Lackland. Featuring an exciting outdoor movie experience! This fun-filled adventure is designed for kids and families new to camping and offers the perfect introduction to the great outdoors in a safe, welcoming environment. Kids will learn basic camping skills such as setting up a tent and getting familiar with sleeping outside. Families will get to make a simple dinner, breakfast, and campfire snacks teaching kids how to enjoy food cooked outdoors in a fun and engaging way. As night falls, we’ll settle in for a family-friendly outdoor movie under the stars! Kids can enjoy the magic of cinema surrounded by nature, all while cozying up in blankets and enjoying a picnic-style atmosphere. Activities will be led by trained staff, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the event. We’ll provide everything needed for a cozy, fun night out in nature, including tents, sleeping mats, and bags. The cost of the event is $30 per person. JBSA Aquatic Centers

The 502 FSS team is dedicated to providing open recreation swimming options, and we’re actively working towards solutions to make this happen. The pool hours are currently posted only for Memorial Day Weekend. Moving forward, pool hours will be adjusted and posted each week based on the availability of lifeguards. We are committed to having at least one pool open at each location each weekend and are actively working to onboard additional lifeguards to ensure your safety and provide an enjoyable experience. Mommy & Me Painting

LAK Arnold Hall Community Center

Come, grab a brush for some family fun and enjoy painting a pre-drawn canvas with the kids on May 10 from 11 am-1 pm. No creative or artistic skills are needed.
