Weekend Camping Trip @ Canyon Lake

Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake

Join us for a family, adventure filled weekend soaking up the sun and fun at JBSA Recreation at Canyon Lake. Participants will check-in to the lake Friday evening from 1-7 p.m. with a check out of Sunday morning by 11 a.m. Campers will be staying in the new bungalows. Saturday will feature fun on the water with three pontoons ready to take families out on the water as well as a scheduled Sunset Cruise that evening. For those not wanting to venture out on the pontoons, there will be paddle equipment on the beach for families to use. As the day winds down, guest will be treated to a spectacular Star Gazing experience of the solar system and beyond through powerful telescopes. For a special treat, guests will join the staff for a scrumptious Dutch oven dessert - sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. This is an R4R event with no cost for active-duty military members and their families only. It is first-come, first serve and limited spaces are available. Family Camp-out

Family Campout Oct. 14-15 • 9 a.m. on Saturday to noon on Sunday Temperatures have cooled so come out for some great camping with your family at Canyon Lake and participate in group activities supporting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. First Steps Basketball Registration

Children ages 3-4 learn the fundamentals of basketball in a non-competitive/team format developmental program. Parents are required to participate as an extension of the instructor. 502d Force Support Squadron Presents Summer Basketball Registration at JBSA Youth Programs Registration begins May 1 JBSA Youth Sports is looking to enhance youth development and skills through an exciting basketball season. The cost is $60 per youth. A current physical, immunization records and flu vaccine are required at time of registration. This program is open to all of JBSA but will be held at JBSA-Lackland. The cost is $35 per child with a sibling discount or FREE with a Give Parents a Break referral. The last day to register is the Wednesday Prior to the event. Red Cross Babysitting Training May 18 • 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. JBSA-Lackland Youth Programs (Transportation to and from the training site will be provided from both Fort Sam Houston and Randolph Youth Programs.) Youth Programs is offering Red Cross Babysitting Training at all JBSA Youth Programs. Cost is $40 for youth ages 11 and older. Training will cover basic care for infants and children, basic first aid, child behavior, age-appropriate activities, emergency protocols, professionalism and leadership. Patrons not enrolled currently in School-Age Care Programs can request a slot for camp by logging on to Military Child Care.com and selecting the preferred location.
