JBSA Outdoor Recreation

All Outdoor Recreation Centers require a Boaters Safety Course certificate from Texas Parks and Wildlife in order for customers to rent their boats. Online courses can be taken at boaterexam.com, Boat-ed.com, BOATsmartexam.com, BoatUS.org and iLearnToBoat.com. The Kayak and Canoe safety course is required for non-powered boating equipment. Water Safety Instructor Class (Fort Sam)

FSH Aquatic Centers

This class is for people who want to learn how to teach swimming lessons. This Red Cross class is one of the required certifications to be hired as a GS-3 WSI at JBSA Pools. Cost is $180 per person. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and 20 yards of butterfly at the Level 4 to get in the class. Spring Break Bowling Special (Lackland)

License to Carry Classes

Camp Bullis Outdoor Recreation

License to Carry a Handgun classes are held at the Camp Bullis Rod-N-Gun Recreation Center (RNGRC). Students must be age 21 or older to register for the class unless they are active-duty military. You need to be familiar with your firearm; no first-time shooters. Students must also need federal qualifications to purchase a handgun. The cost of the class is $80. Successful completion of the class is recommended prior to purchasing a handgun. Active-Duty Military Golf Clinic

FSH Golf Course

JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Golf course offers active-duty military an opportunity to improve their golf skills. There is no cost to participate so golfers can take full advantage of tips to tweek all facets of their game. Clinics are held the first and third Saturdays of the month.
