Stillman Park Camping Adventure

Get ready for an unforgettable night under the stars, camping at our very own Stillman Park on JBSA Lackland. Featuring an exciting outdoor movie experience! This fun-filled adventure is designed for kids and families new to camping and offers the perfect introduction to the great outdoors in a safe, welcoming environment. Kids will learn basic camping skills such as setting up a tent and getting familiar with sleeping outside. Families will get to make a simple dinner, breakfast, and campfire snacks teaching kids how to enjoy food cooked outdoors in a fun and engaging way. As night falls, we’ll settle in for a family-friendly outdoor movie under the stars! Kids can enjoy the magic of cinema surrounded by nature, all while cozying up in blankets and enjoying a picnic-style atmosphere. Activities will be led by trained staff, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the event. We’ll provide everything needed for a cozy, fun night out in nature, including tents, sleeping mats, and bags. The cost of the event is $30 per person. Army Ten-Miler Qualifier May 3 • 7 a.m. • 2 Hr Cut Off Time Start and Finish at Central Post Fitness Center Open to all DoD ID cardholders, but only active-duty military assigned to JBSA may qualify for the JBSA Ten Miler Team Ten runners will qualify to participate on the two JBSA Ten Miler Teams. Team qualifiers are expected to: Attend semi-regular team meetings and training sessions as programmed by the team captain through race day on October 12 Commit time to train a minimum of 25 miles per week through race day Be assigned to a JBSA unit through November 2025 $40 Registration Fee Register at METC Fitness Center or Jimmy Brought Fitness Center Registration deadline is April 23 Each runner will receive a T-shirt and a medal   For more information, email Cody Hildreth at [email protected].

Kayak & Paddle Board Class

Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake

May 10 Please join us at the JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake's Hancock Cove Beach for a two-hour class on kayak and paddle board safety and operation. This class is required in order to rent kayaks and paddle boards. After completion, each guest will receive a certification card. This card must be presented each time you rent the equipment. The cost for the class is $20 per person. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a sponsor during the class and during equipment rental.
