Trail Rides at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Equestrian Center. By Appointment only/Reservations required. No Experience Required. $30 per person for DoD ID cardholders, ages 7 & older. (Adults must accompany children younger than age 13). Riders must be at least 4 feet, 6 inches tall and weigh no more than 200 pounds All trail rides are guided at a walking pace Check-in at the office at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time Open-toed or dress shoes are not permitted for riding; boots or closed-toed shoes are required; tennis/running shoes may be worn Riding double is not permitted All riding and safety instructions are given before riders depart Trail rides may be terminated if a rider fails to follow trail guide instructions Trail rides will be cancelled for safety reasons to include but not limited to heat or heat index in excess of 100° F, lightening, rain or mud If you would like to set up a weekday trail ride, the cost is $40. Equestrian Center Activities JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Equestrian Center Pony Rides Saturdays and Sundays • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Equestrian Center offers $10 parent-led pony rides for children that do not meet age/height requirements for trail rides. Adults must accompany their children and availability is on a first come, first served basis. Pony rides can also be coordinated for weekdays on an appointment basis as well as for parties or other special events held on site. Horse Boarding The Equestrian Center has paddocks and stalls for boarding your horse, a covered arena, two outdoor rings, round pen, wash racks, a hot-walker and many more amenities, so call us for more information.
