502d Force Support Squadron Presents Central Post 2023 December Events Tire Flip Competition Mon/Wed/Fri | 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The challenge is to flip the tire as many times as you can in a two-minute time frame. Before each tire flip, a staff member must be present for safety & confirmation of the number of tire flips. This contest will have categories for men and women. The person with the most tire flips at the end of the month will receive a prize. Two Mile Cardio Challenge Monday - Friday | 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Patrons can use treadmills, spin bikes, ellipticals or rowing machines to test their cardio endurance & to complete this challenge. A staff member must record the time and distance. Prizes will go to the person with the longest distance on each piece of equipment at the end of the month. Events are open to all DOD ID cardholders. Ugly Sweater 5k Run/Walk

Get ahead of your New Year’s resolutions to get fit. The METC Fitness Center hosts this free event with showtime at 7:30 a.m. at the Pershing Ball Fields, building 3212. This event is open to all DOD ID card holders and their guests ages 16 and older. Transportation provided for students, volunteers and other participants. Pick-up and drop-off at the Aquatic Center’s parking lot starting at 7:15 a.m. Prizes awarded to the first and second place runners. There will be male and female teams. Letter of intent and coaches meeting take place Jan. 3 at 1 PM at the METC Fitness & Sports Center. Games begin Jan. 9 at 1 PM Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Units may have more than one team and may submit male team(s) and female team(s). Cadre must be present at all games. February Fitness Challenges     The Fort Sam Houston Central Post offers two great challenges further your efforts toward your New Years resolution. Bench Press Competition • Free Feb. 1-29 • Mon., Wed., and Fri. • 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons are invited to come out to see who can lift the most weight. There will be categories for men and women but no weight class. Each patron is to make sure a staff member verifies the weight lifted. The man and woman who lift the most weight will be awarded a prize at the end of the month. Five-Mile Cardio Challenge • Free Mon.-Fri. • 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Patrons use treadmills, spin bikes, ellipticals or rowing machines to test their cardio endurance to complete this challenge.
